Ewing Boers started in 2004 as a primary percentage/ meat goat operation focused on producing quality wethers and healthy breeding does that would fare well in a meat production market. We bought a fullblood buck and put with those does and was amazed at the changes in carcass traits. We later started adding fullblood does to the mix.
In 2007, we decided we needed to make a significant change and dedicated ourselves to improving our herd's carcass characteristics. We asked ourselves, what is the most important carcass trait above all others? We decided length was the answer. So we needed a buck who had freakish length without loosing muscle and height. Our answer was FULL CHOKE. He is a RRD GAUGE *Ennobled son. Well, FULL CHOKE has the length and consistently produces offspring with long loins, fantastic extension through the shoulders, and added depth in the chest.
In 2009 we made our next step. We needed to add some class, smooth the edges, and add more butt. We took our longest doe (NAMA BLITZ EN* x PIPELINE EN *) with the best characteristics we have found out of over 100 does, and flushed her to WIDE LOAD EN*. We retrieved 36 embryos from this flush and then re-bred this doe to STATUS QUO. We plan on changing the face of our operation with this mating and hope you will be impressed as well.
